The fact is that this is easy to start one but this is hard to finish one.
The rate of success is so low that some people don’t even believe in New Year Resolution anymore.
People say if you have the end result in your mind, you will be successful
I believe in this but just to certain degree.
The results were far from satisfaction with this theory alone.
You need more than that to reach the goal.
How you start and what you do along the way will determine the end result.
Let dive into that to make this 2016 New Year Resolution a successful one.
For purpose of illustrating, we are using resolution of weight loss.
Pro-Action Phase – build the foundation for action
Altitude – the most important key for success
Mindset is everything.
The mindset of endurance to the end of game is the critical factor to success.
When you come to your rock bottom, suddenly you will realize there was no longer any time left to remain the same.
It is not just you have to make a change; you realize it is life and dead decision.
Without this strong commitment, you can’t expect yourself to complete the steps which required strong determination and discipline.
Nobody dare to start the New Year Resolution without this attitude and expect to win.
Planning – must be personal
There are so many weigh loss programs in the market place.
They are designed to satisfy the general pubic.
None of them is designed particularly for you.
You have unique body structure, eating habit, and activities.
They are useless to you until you customize it according to your style.
If you are big eater, you must reduce the calories intake.
If you have binge-eating habit, you modify that binge-eating pattern.
If you have sweet tooth (on extreme scale), you delete the consumption of food such as soda or candy.
Simple Strategy with one word main statement
In your human nature, you will be tempted to make your plan more complicated than it needs to be.
Many of those things that you think are “essential” or “sure to work”… will only add burdens to you to carry out the steps.
Start your strategy with main statement of few words.
Then take your time to cut down to one word statement.
While you take time in doing this, you are forced to simplify the steps in the strategy.
One word statement anchors firmer in your head and heart.
It becomes the focus point of your activities.

Action Phase – only actions create results.

Start the daily activities with meditation.
Meditation works wonderfully in removing your fear, doubt, and feeling of inadequate.
It gives you clarity in your mind and conscious about your internal state of your body.

Speak to yourself
Stand in front of the mirror, start to learn to like or love your image in the mirror.
According to the law of nature (spiritual law), your physical body will resist to be modified until you accept your body image.
You need to point your finger to your image in the mirror and declare proudly “I like you”, “I love you”, “you are blessed”, “you are great”….
Throughout the day, you speak positive terms over yourself as many times as possible such as “I can do it”, “I can accomplish what I want today”, and “I am loved” etc.
At the same, it is also important to keep the negative terms out from your mouth.
If you can do these, you will feel like you have unlimited abilities and awesome options to achieve anything.
“Death and life are in the power of your tongue….” – Proverbs 18:21
Take small steps – be patient.
The biggest mistake is to start out with initial gigantic step.
It requires huge amount of energy to do that.
As the result, you will be so tired and have little amount of energy to continue.
Break down the whole process into many workable small steps.
Jeff Hogan successfully lost 150 lb by starting to work on stationary bike for 15 min daily.
Each step should be so small seemed like an effortless activity.
You don’t allow yourself to take on a new step until it becomes part of routine or daily action.
Believe it or not, the sum of small steps will amazingly produce good results.
You have to know that it took few years to gain the weight you don’t want.
It may take same amount of time to lose them.
It is fair to allow yourself time to get back to the original state.
Don’t be rush!
You fail, no big deal, get up
Old habit is hard to delete; new habit is very difficult to form.
If you fall back to old habit, pick it up, and start again.
How many times can you allow yourself?
The answer is as many times as possible without guilt feeling
if you really want to win the game.
Stop comparison to others.
You can’t afford to compare to others.
Comparison is deadly.
It sure produces defeat and inadequate feeling.
You will also doubt about whether your plan is working or not.
You monitor your progress from your own past results.
It’s not about being better than everyone else.
It’s about being better than you were yesterday.
Adjust your steps as you go.
This is a reason behind this counter-intuitive action.
You set out the plan with your original state (may be 50 lb heavier).
The result of the first step creates your new self (let say 4 lb lighter).
Because you take the initial action and the above result, you discover the potential and ability which you don’t know before.
You can take bigger challenge to accelerate the result.
***Caution: you can adjust the steps but never detour away from the main goal.
In order to enchant the result of New Year Resolution in weight loss, you must design the meal and exercise programs that you can enjoy.
The more you enjoy the process, the easier to maintain your ideal state for a long term.
Sometime, you can refresh yourself by breaking the routine for one or two days
As I say before, it took long time to acquire the weigh gain you don’t want so it is fair to allow yourself the same amount of time to get back to the original state.
