In this article, we are addressing the first one – laughter.
You have heard that laughter is the best medicine.
According Irish Proverb, a long sleep and a good laugh are the two best cures for anything.
Even people, who do not have long sleep daily, can be benefit greatly from laughter alone.
People can see their health and happiness improved dramatically by adding one habit – Laugh out loud once a day.
Laughter is Difference from other medicines:
It is free.
The more you take the better for your health.
You can’t buy laughter with money.
The Discovery of Healing Ability of Laughter
The healing properties of laughter can be dated back to biblical times.
As in the book of Proverbs, we have this statement: “A merry heart does good like a medicine”.
For modern day laughter therapy, we should credit to Norman Cousins who wrote a book “Anatomy of an Illness” in 1979.
When Cousins was diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis, he was unable to move and in constant pain.
However, Cousins didn’t lose his sense of humor in the midst of this.
He credited his recovery to a prescription of “Candid Camera” episodes, comedies and funny stories read by nurses.
He claimed two hours of pain-free sleep could be obtained within 10 min of laughter.
Since then, many scientific studies have found that while laughter isn’t necessarily the best medicine, it’s pretty good and effective one.
What happen inside your body when you laugh?
The act of laughing stimulates the production of hormones called catecholamines, which in turn release the happy elements– endorphins.
With endorphins present in your bloodstream, you’re more apt to feel happy and relaxed.
With each laugh, you’re relieving stress, reducing anxiety, and increasing the stores of personal energy.
Laughter tones your muscles, improves your respiration, and your immune system.

Dr. Annette Goodheart’s story is the proof of the possibility.

She credits laughter for her recovery from that.
We all know people, whose emotions are wounded unfairly, are more likely holding on to past pain.
Laughter can help those people loosen up and begin to let go the past.
Humor leads to increased hopefulness and positive emotions.
People begin to see a way out of their misery.

Physical, mental and emotional stress weakens our immune system.
A weak immune system is a major factor in the development of cancer.
Since laughter can reduce stress, so laughter helps to prevent development of cancer or even reverse it.
Here is a video that tells the story of Jacqueline Domhoff, from Peru, who chose to use laughter as a tool to fight her ovarian cancer.
She shrunk a 20 cm tumor in 6 months by laughing daily.
How to laugh even in bad circumstance.
It is important to learn how to laugh when you are in bad situation or in pain.
Laughter offers the best chance for you to get out of the situation.
But if you’re facing cancer, battling depression, or dealing with the meanest boss on the planet, can anything truly seem funny? You can if you make determination to do it.
Schedule 4 laughing sections (like taking medicine 4 times a day) in a day.
Each section can be 5 min or more.
Once the schedule set up, it is easier to follow through.
There are things you can do during the sections:
Watch funny YouTube video such as “I Love Lucy”.
If funny tapes or videos are not available, then you just start to laugh anyway.
Fake laughter can be just as effective as real laughter.
Here is the example by Amit Amin.
You can make it as your mission to laugh at every opportunity.
When you fall down the stairs in front of everyone, you could be turned into a funny event instead of feeling embarrassment.
Just like my friend, Zane Baker, says “Always find a reason to laugh. It may not add years to your life, but it will surely add life to yours”.
